Debuts: January 14 at 9 PM on The CW
What Is It? A prequel of sorts of Sex and the City, based on the tween novels written by Candace Bushnell. They follow a young Carrie as she deals with high school and growing up in the ’80s.
Should You Watch? The pilot, starring AnnaSophia Robb, was oddly charming. And it looks like it will adequately fill the Gossip Girl void.

4. The Carrie Diaries
We were charmed by this Sex and the City prequel as the pilot alone is already about a million times better than The CW’s Emily Owens, Meryl’s Daughter. It’s full of ’80s teen angst and fashion, like a higher end Jane by Design. Plus, we can’t wait to see slutty young Samantha.
