"I want this to be a celebration,I want us to get to that point where we see this character ride off into the sunset. Letting go of such a huge part of my life … I want to cry right now. Grey’s has been the most important role of my life. Playing Cristina and growing her and growing myself in her, I want to usher her into the next section of her life in the best way possible. It’s got to be Cristina Yang’s happily ever after.”——Sandra Oh

Best: Cristina Yang (Grey’s Anatomy)Signature Shonda Quirk: Inability to have feelings or consideration when it comes to her patients. Why We Love Her: She’s deeply flawed, but we appreciate the self-awareness that she has when her life goes to hell on a yearly basis because of the choices she’s made. She’s a great surgeon, and knows that, too, but is ultra-competitive when it comes to being the best cardiothoracic surgeon she can. She’s fiercely devoted to work (even when she took time off because of her meltdown) and we can count on her to pull no punches when someone does something stupid. She also didn’t change her whole life around to have a baby in order to keep her husband happy. Unlike Bailey, she’s still tough and brutally honest when it counts.

Owen says, verbatim, “NO ONE doesn’t want kids!” Oh my God, I hate this so much already. Look, there are two ways to unpack that statement: Shonda and the writers either believe what Owen is saying — that there’s some biological imperative to want children and even when people think they don’t, they eventually do — or else they think “everybody wants kids” is a self-evidently ridiculous statement, in which case they’re loading down a previously likeable character with the biggest pile of BS belief I’ve heard from someone on this show, and that includes the time the blonde thought she was having sex with the ghost of her dead boyfriend.
