Collaborator: Johnny Depp
Profession: Actor
Number of Collaborations: 8
Best Collaboration: Ed Wood. While he’s equally great as that other Edward (Scissorhands), Depp’s daffy, driven and deeply emotional turn as the world’s worst director looks more and more like his defining screen performance as the decades pass.
Worst Collaboration: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Replacing Gene Wilder was always going to be a Herculean task, but the most disappointing thing about Depp’s performance as Willy Wonka is that he doesn’t even try to create a unique, memorable candy man. Like the movie itself, his Wonka lacks pure imagination.
Will They Work Together Again? Without question… even though many of us probably wish they wouldn’t.
